FAQs

Got a question? You’re not alone. Check out our FAQs for our most commonly sought-after program info. If what you need isn’t here, shoot us an email at community@clippedinforlife.org.

  • What ages can participate?

Our Get Rollin’ Learn-to-Ride Classes are designed for ages 3-9 with some or no experience on a bike.

In order to provide the best learning experience possible, we are not able to accommodate ages outside of the range listed for each class.

If your child is already pedaling and interested in building their skills, please click here to fill out an interest form to receive more information on our Grip Academy after school program, which runs in the spring and fall.

  • Can my child use his/her own bike?

    Kids Age 7-9:
Kids in this age range will need to bring their own bike and helmet (our demo bikes are too small to provide a good learning experience). We start all kids learning in “balance mode,” so please remove any training wheels and pedals from your child’s bike before class. We are able to help with pedal removal on the first day of class.

    Ages 3-6:
Kids age 3-6 enrolled in the Get Rollin’ program have the option to use our demo fleet of Strider balance bikes and helmets. The Strider bikes we use are specially designed to teach kids the basics of two wheeled operation in “balance mode” using their legs for propulsion and when they’re ready, quickly convert to a pedal bike with coaster brake.

Your child may bring their own balance and helmet, and our coaches will assess if they may benefit from borrowing one of our demo bikes. Please leave bikes with pedals and/or training wheels at home and use a bike from our fleet.

  • Are training wheels allowed?

Training wheels are not allowed. We teach kids the basics of two wheeled operation in “balance mode,” using their legs for propulsion and, when they’re ready, we slowly introduce pedaling and braking. This method ensures consistency in coaching and guidance.

If your child is bringing their own bike to class, please remove any training wheels and pedals before your first day.

  • What should my child bring to class?

Please make sure your child comes prepared with the following:

    • Sunscreen
    • Water bottle (we will also have jugs of water and cups)
    • Close-toed shoes and comfortable clothing
    • Any medications (inhaler, epi pen, etc.) necessary to enable participation
    • If age 7-9: Helmet and bike with any training wheels and pedals removed (we are able to help with pedal removal on the first day of class)
  • Do I need to stay on-site with my child?

Parents are welcomed to stay and watch, but it is not required. If you are dropping off your child, please let our staff know at check-in.

  • Do you offer any discounts?

Discounts are not offered in Winter and Spring due to small class sizes of only 5 kids.

For larger class sizes offered in the Summer, a multiple registration discount is available: Add two or more registrations to your cart, and receive $5 off of each registration. This can apply to siblings purchasing multiple camp weeks at once, or friends registering together. Registrations must be purchased at the same time to receive the discount. Discount automatically applied at checkout.
