Founded in 2017, the Mother Lode Epic is the brainchild of Santa Cruz / Fox / Shimano Pro mountain biker Clint Claassen and his wife Jennifer. Clint trains regularly on these trails and wanted to create an event to showcase the area with a point-to-point race on trails that have never had a mountain bike race before.
The Mother Lode Epic is a unique single day stage format endurance race featuring four timed stages over 39 miles (32 miles of racing) and a boat transfer across Folsom Lake between the last two stages. The course follows California’s gold discovery route from the Magnolia Ranch Trailhead (near Coloma) to Historic Folsom.
Our full race day schedule has info on the start line shuttle, race start, stage cutoff times, and finish festival.
